In 2019, an NB-IRDT study (Leonard et al.) estimated the retention rates of immigrants who arrived in New Brunswick through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) between 2005 and 2017. This study is an update (2005-2018) and an extension to the previous report, as it addresses the following questions:

  • Which stream of immigrants has a higher likelihood of remaining in the province?
  • What characteristics are associated with a higher likelihood of retention, and can any causal relationship be inferred?
  • Does the Atlantic Immigration Pilot program have higher retention rates than other immigration streams?
