The study is divided into three parts. The first part presents evidence on the socio-economic and demographic profiles of immigrants who came to Nova Scotia between 2011 and 2016. The second part reviews the current literature to identify the possible reasons for an individual to migrate. Both of these will lead to the important third part of the study, which focuses on investigating the reasons for immigrants’ choice of Nova Scotia as the destination province, whether to stay in the province or to leave. This part of the study will be based on a survey of a target population of 3000 respondents. It will also solicit inputs from different stakeholders including policymakers, settlement organizations, and academics.
