Twenty-five years of immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador

To understand the role of immigration in shaping the demographics and economy of Newfoundland and Labrador, we:

• Collect and tabulate data on immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador for the period 2001 – 2024, with a focus on the economic objectives of immigration.

• Provide a descriptive analysis of the data to better understand the demographic and geographic dimensions of immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador as they relate to the economic objectives of immigration.

• Identify some gaps in research that can provide necessary information for an informed public policy discussion on immigration and to develop and implement promising immigrant attraction, integration and retention strategies in the province.
