To understand the role of immigration in shaping the demographics and economy of Nova Scotia, this study:

• Collects and tabulate data on immigration to Nova Scotia for the period 2001 – 2024, with a focus on the economic objectives of immigration

• Provides a descriptive analysis of the data to understand the demographic and geographic dimensions of immigration to Nova Scotia as they relate to the economic objectives of immigration

• Poses some research questions by identifying some gaps in research that can provide necessary information for an informed public policy discussion on immigration and to implement immigrant attraction, integration and retention strategies in the province.
