Our working groups aim to build connections, share knowledge and promising practices, and foster collaborative learning.
Did you know that ARAISA hosts 3 working groups? These working groups aren’t just about meetings; they’re about building connections, sharing knowledge and promising practices, and learning together. Whether you’re passionate about language education, literacy or communications, there’s a group for you!
Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
The PBLA working group is an online space where lead instructors and other language staff from various agencies and institutions implementing PBLA in the Atlantic region come together to share their knowledge and experiences and learn from each other.
By joining this group, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with other PBLA practitioners every month from September to June to discuss different topics, such as placement policies, reporting, portfolio management, and accountability. To learn more, contact Florence, our Sector Engagement Coordinator, at fluxcote@araisa.ca
English as an Additional Language (EAL) Literacy
Calling all literacy champions! The EAL Literacy working group is your dedicated space, whether you’re a program administrator or a frontline instructor in an organization in Atlantic Canada. This online working group provides a platform to navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and exchange strategies for supporting learners.
Join us for monthly meetings from September to June as we consider strategies for in-class support for instructors and discuss other programming-related topics. To learn more, contact Florence, our Sector Engagement Coordinator, at fluxcote@araisa.ca
Communications Hub
Do you have a communication role in a settlement service provider organization in Atlantic Canada? The Communications Hub is for you! This is a networking space for communications staff where, every other month, participants share experiences, best practices, issues, solutions, and tips.
Join the group to find new and effective ways to communicate to different audiences in the settlement and integration sector and stay up-to-date with the latest marketing and communication trends. To learn more, contact Mélanie, our Communications Lead, at mveerapen@araisa.ca
